Before going there, I thought the beach was an inescapable part of Malaga. It turns out that the seaside close to downtown is more a harbour than a stretch of sand, and getting to the “real” beach takes a bus or a taxi ride. Since we were there to visit the museums and explore the town, I didn’t really make plans to get there, yet, walking our way back from the Russian Museum’s annex we ended up there by chance. Not on the well-known beaches of the east, but instead on this almost empty stretch of sand, lined by the Antonio Banderas promenade (I kid you not, he’s actually from Malaga) and its quite photogenic low-budget modernism. It was 6pm, and I managed to get a sunburn.

Walk in our steps.
I took the liberty of adding a few cacti pictures from the Jardin Botanico uptown. This would be a nice upgrade to the local flora, just saying, in case a gardener from the city is reading this.
Avant d’y être allée, je pensais que la plage faisait partie intégrante de Malaga. En réalité, le littoral près du centre-ville ressemble plus à un port qu’à une bande de sable, et se rendre sur une vraie plage requiert un bus ou un taxi. Comme nous étions là pour explorer la ville et ses musées, je n’avais donc pas vraiment fait de plan pour m’y rendre, c’est donc un peu par hasard, en revenant à pied de l’annexe du musée Russe, qu’on s’y est finalement trouvés. Ce n’était pas les plages plus connues de l’est de la ville, mais une longue bande de sable bordée par la promenade Antonio Banderas (et oui! Il est né à Malaga) dont le modernisme méditerranéen un peu fauché n’était pas pour me déplaire. Il était 18 heures, et j’ai réussi à prendre un coup de soleil. Cet impitoyable soleil andalou…

Je me suis permis d’ajouter quelques photos de cactus et de succulentes du Jardin Botanique de la ville. C’est ma façon de suggérer une petite amélioration de l’endroit au jardinier municipal qui ne me lit sûrement pas.
